Throw a Kapowwow design over any basic outfit and you’re bound to receive hefty glances coming your way. Taking inspiration from Jacobian ruffs and the natural structures of fruit and coral, each Kapowwow design is hand crafted with care and made from recycled fabric hunted from charity shops and the World Wide Web. Visit GreenHouse by Joost, a temporary pop-up exhibition at Melbourne’s Federation Square from the 29th of October 2008 until the 29th of January 2009.

Built entirely from recycled and reused materials, the folks at Greenhouse will be dishing up some interesting degustation fare in the likes of tiny ‘taste-tubes’, served up by vintage clad waiters using old shopping trolleys to double up as serving trays.

The Greenhouse, brain-child of waste wizard, Joost Bakker sends the idea of how even the simplest things can turn into treasure. Ideally, it hopes to send the message and garner awareness amongst the public about the simplicity of sustainability practice.

To prove their point, they’ve came up with some pretty mind-blowing recycled artwork from their floors made from deconstructed shipping crates, chairs of reclaimed street signs and feature wall of wild strawberry plant. Do drop by if you happen to be in the neighbourhood, not something you want to be missing out on.

Complex Geometries are known for the infusion of unisex-uality in their designs; a concept of liberation for both male and female to wear just about anything and everything from their collection. See some of their male collection featuring a load of definitive drapes, slouch and minimalism at its very best.

‘Design For Use is a platform to present niche European design as a diverse, edited collection of beautiful, thought provoking gift & homeware ideas.’

Design For Use sticks to the concept of bringing in underground, less-hyped designers, giving us, the public, an opportunity to experience originality and functionality in the form of product and design not commonly attainable elsewhere, something we ought to be thankful for.

Their product ranges from fun and useful stationeries, conceptual homeware to unconventional products for the young and trendy.

Take a look at some of their very neat products, great place if you’re looking for gift ideas for friends.

If you love your food as much as you love your bling, you might wanna take a peak at Lucy Folk’s jewelery range, More Nibbles featuring lil snacks such as popcorn, burger rings and corn chips. We especially love the pretzel necklace! Coated in copper and gold, and then cast in solid silver or plated in 24ct gold, also hangs on a sterling silver chain. Definitely a piece with a very high Yum factor we think!

NEWS: Tanner

What started off as customizing bags for friends and family turned Portland’s Tanner into a full fledged brand. Started off by industrial design duo, Mark & Sam, Tanner products are 100% made in Portland from the designing, cutting, constructing and branding.

Their product range from bags to key chains but what we’re really perving on are their satchel bags that are made from medium weight natural leather and custom nickel plated aluminum hardware details. Its precision stitching is another noted characteristic that gives the bag its clean touch.

All leather goods are made to order on an individual basis, so expect each piece to have its own unique touch.
